MODIF

Modif is a hypothetical brand made within a group project of 4 other designers. Within this project we created a brand full with concepts, ideas and a collection of 8 different bodies titled "All Work No Play". For Modif we focused on redefining classical workwear using Trompe L'Oeil or "trick of the eye" techniques as a tool to subvert the viewer's expectations of workwear, as well as apply personality through playful textile treatments and screenprints as a response to the dull work environment.

Business Meets Casual

This body of work plays with the idea of common stereotypes such as the button up shirt and the t-shirt and merging them together using construction techniques such as flanging which seamlessly merges panels together to create an illusion. The fit is oversized and relaxed to subvert the uncomfortable nature of wearing business attire. The pants are a mixture of tailored men's pants and sweatpants. It features ribbed cuffs and a drawstring waistband with a pinstripe pattern on the fabric. The drawstring is made to resemble a neck tie but adapted to be placed in the waistband.

Shirt Dress

This dress is designed to resemble a button up shirt. It is oversized and features punk style prints all over the garment with hand painted motifs. It has a large side flange as well as a button stand that curves all the way to the hem. The garment incorporates menswear techniques into a dress format. The fabric references business style plaid patterns that can be seen in office environments.

The garment was made in collaboration with Jackie Min.
